2 Chainz

Finding this belt was a miracle.

Recently, I went to the Vancouver's Topshop at Granville Station, on the hunt for some black mom jeans. I was having a hard time finding a pair that fit me anywhere else, and Topshop was my last shot. Luckily, I was able to find an incredibly comfy pair (that I will be showing in an ootd very soon I'm sure). Before I went to checkout with my jeans, I browsed their accessories section, specifically seeing if they had any cool belts with chains - I've been really into that look recently, inspired by many other bloggers including one of my favs, Julia Dang, as you can see in this pic. So I was checking out their selection, and lo and behold I reached to the back of the rack, and pulled out the last black chained and studded belt, and it happened to be a size XS. If that's not fate I don't know what is.

I've been itching to style this belt since. I've been really inspired by a more androgynous look recently, with dress pants, black boots, and turtle necks- for some reference check this out, and this, and also this

So I decided to try styling the belt with my thrifted trousers, my thrifted black turtleneck, my thrifted (and incredibly warm) down puffy jacket, as well as my 8-eye 1460 Greasy Dr. Martens, and toped it with my dad's Hi Visibility Orange Thinsulate Toque.

Fuzzy Wuzzy

There's a lot of looking to the left in these photos. Clearly I know my angles and stick to them.

This look is the pinnacle of "cold weather layering" for me, and I gotta say it's when I'm most comfortable. This look is a simple black turtleneck, layered with Uniqlo's Fluffy Yarn Fleece Full-Zip Jacket, topped with my go-to hand-me-down vintage Levi's denim jacket. I'm also wearing my thrifted Just USA Jeans with my Little Burgundy's Women's Clara Boot in Black, and an Urban Outfitters toque on top.

When I first got the fuzzy sweater, I was hesitant about how warm it would be considering it is pretty thin (seems to be only one layer of fabric. I've been surprised, though, to find it very warm and cozy, and it has made a great layering piece. Although Vancouver hasn't remotely started to get winter weather or temperatures yet, I still appreciate this extra assurance and warmth as we start to dip down into the single digits on the thermometer.

Lindsay Photoshoot 3.

        Finally, we have look 3.

I absolutely love this look, and these shots. Taken, like before, by the wonderful Lindsay Wu, who you can find her Instagram and her website here. In all honesty, this photo above is one of my favourite photos ever taken of me. Although it was hard to keep my eyes open in the sun, the pain is worth getting the perfect shot, and we were determined to do so!

These comfy jeans are from Uniqlo, and this vintage orange Reebok sweatshirt is a thrifted find that I cut in half. I threw on my favourite Vans, and kept the accessories to a minimum with delicate Forever 21 earrings, a thrifted belt, and my trusted hand-me-down leather backpack.

Lindsay Photoshoot 2.

And here we are, look 2! If you haven't already seen, I shot a lookbook with the lovely Lindsay Wu (insta and website). We had a ton of fun with this look- by the fence, on the stairs, and in this large undercover area we found.

This outfit here was an an ode to the Tumblr days of fashion, which I fully participated in and loved. Putting together the look together gave me some heavy nostalgia. I paired this iconic, oversized, and thrifted wolf and moon t-shirt  with a Garage long sleeved mesh top underneath. For added texture and dimension, I wore my fishnets (along with denim shorts, of course) with my current new favourite shorts, Little Burgundy's Women's Clara Boot in Black. The cherry on top is my beige toque from Urban Outfitters.

Lindsay Photoshoot 1.

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of shooting with someone I met through SFU's Communications program, who is a talented artist and photographer. Her name is Lindsay Wu, she is a recent graduate, and you can find her Instagram @lindswu and her website can be found here

She came to me wanting to photograph a lookbook that consisted of 3-4 outfits that varied in style, depending on the specific locations she had sought out, and styling outfits accordingly.  All the photos were taken in Vancouver's Gastown.

This here is the first outfit, specially selected for the vibrant graffiti-covered alleyways that can be found throughout Gastown. Because I knew the walls would be a cacophony of colour, I kept the outfit simple with my staple thrifted red t-shirt, and paired it with my new Forever 21 Wallet Chain Wide-Leg Jeans that came with a (surprisingly heavy) silver chain. To add some height, I threw on my Current Mood Franky's, and kept it at that.

Overall, I had a wonderful day with Lindsay. She was wonderful to work with and I would recommend anyone looking for a photographer in the Vancouver Lower Mainland area, to check her out. We still have 2 more outfits from this day, so be sure come back in the next few days to see! Her photography skills are exquisite and I am so excited to share more of her work!

the end.
