Rainbows & Sunshine

        This is the third and final look from my photoshoot with Lindsay Wu! With a new thrifted tshirt, my loose and comfy Uniqlo jeans, topped with my hand-me-down vintage Levi's jacket, thrifted belt, and my classic Old Skool Vans. The lightint was so bomb up here at this parking lot, and I felt like I was glowing. After a police car pulled up and stared at us for a couple mins, and then casually drove away, we concluded are mini shoot. I loved each session so much! Had such a fun time, and I hope you guys enjoyed them too.

        Here is look #2, shot by the lovely Lindsay Wu!! I thrifted these Nike Air sneakers and I absolutely love them. They have the perfect worn-in retro dad-at-a-BBQ Nike vibe and they work with everything. I don't know the exact style or year these sneakers are, so if anyone knows let me know! I was honestly afraid of wearing the chunky sneaker trend for some time now becaue it triggered memories of my stick-thin self in middle school having to wear massive runners that were awful and embarrassed me everyday. But honestly, wearing these has been a form of redemption. Of self care. I feel confident enough in my body and look now that styling these is actually really fun! Here is a look I pulled together around them. Enjoy!

Stairway to Nothing

        SO happy to say that I had the opportunity to shoot with Lindsay Wu again! If you haven't read my past posts with her, she is a young photographer that I met through university, and we bonded over photography. She is incredibly talented, and if you live in the Vancouver area, shoot her a message and ask for a quote!

       We wandered around some back alleys for these photos, and shot 3 different outfits. Here is my first, with the classic denim-chain-turtleneck vibe that I've been going for since last winter. Simple, yet interesting, cool, yet comfortable. My one regret is not wearing some heeled ankle boots, but alas these boots will do.

Have You Any Wool?

        Would you believe me if I told you I've been on the hunt for this jacket for close to two years?

        When Oak + Fort discontinued this jacket I was devastated because I didn't have the coin to cop one. Now here I was, 2019, and considering buying the Levis version, which costs $200, but still having hope and constantly checking Depop, Craigslist, and Facebook Marketplace. The second hand stars must have aligned because I found a post selling the Oak + Fort Sherpa Jacket 1655, size Small, posted literally seconds ago. I jumped on it and send the seller a message, and by the time she replied she said she'd received over a dozen messages about the jacket but mine was first! It's in brand new condition, she said she wore it 2 or 3 times, and I bought it for $70. It's incredibly warm, cozy, and feels like I'm walking around with a blanket wrapped around me at all times. Worth every penny. 

        I decided to pair it with a thrifted Forever 21 turtleneck knit sweater, my loose Uniqlo jeans (layered with thermal leggings underneath of course), my Old Skool Vans, and these really dainty geometric hoop Oak + Fort 2433 earrings! And two space buns for my hair - this was before the windchill dropped to absurd negatives. The lipstick is Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color in the colour Uncuffed.

Denim Vest Wave

        I asked and you all spoke: we are officially making denim vests cool in 2019. And I'm here for it. Here I made this outfit specially for this vintage denim vest that used to be my mom's. I paired it with my basic jeans/hoodie combo (with my chain hoop belt that I'm not 100% sure if it's meant to be worn this way?), topped with a Puma toque that was a Christmas present. Easy, simple, and very East Vancouver.

Bon Appétit

        I have finally figured out how to wear a beret and not look like an idiot and it feels so good.

        I know that sounds idiotic in of itself but the truth is, all fall and winter I've been loving watching other fashion bloggers wear berets and I wanted to join in on the fun, but for some reason I could never figure out how to wear them properly. They always just looked awkward on me. And if I did make it look alright, the itching on my forehead was absolutely infuriating. Why have I never heard anyone talk about this? Am I the only one that gets this when wearing felt berets? Anyway, I'm taking way too long to say simply - I finally figured it out. 

        This outfit was in celebration of this revelation, and I styled it around three key pieces: the beret, the jeans, and the earrings. The beret was jut found at the bottom of a scarf and hat trunk in the house, but the jeans and earrings are new. The jeans were a recent thrifted find, and coincidentally found about an hour after me lamenting to my friend that I'm in need of a pair of staple jeans that are thick, vintage, that perfect blue tone, that fit loose, and I can crop. Lo and behold, we found these Lee Jeans in my size. What immediately sold me was the fact that they don't gap at the waist. Finding jeans that fit my hip-to-waist ratio can be difficult, and these exceeded expectations. Lastly, these earrings were a Christmas gift from my dear mom. They're Oak + Fort Earring 2341 and honestly I'm pretty proud of her for finding them and picking them out for me. They're exactly what I needed in my life.
