Fuzzy Wuzzy

        There's a lot of looking to the left in these photos. Clearly I know my angles and stick to them.

        This look is the pinnacle of "cold weather layering" for me, and I gotta say it's when I'm most comfortable. This look is a simple black turtleneck, layered with Uniqlo's Fluffy Yarn Fleece Full-Zip Jacket, topped with my go-to hand-me-down vintage Levi's denim jacket. I'm also wearing my thrifted Just USA Jeans with my Little Burgundy's Women's Clara Boot in Black, and an Urban Outfitters toque on top. 

        When I first got the fuzzy sweater, I was hesitant about how warm it would be considering it is pretty thin (seems to be only one layer of fabric. I've been surprised, though, to find it very warm and cozy, and it has made a great layering piece. Although Vancouver hasn't remotely started to get winter weather or temperatures yet, I still appreciate this extra assurance and warmth as we start to dip down into the single digits on the thermometer.

        Earlier this week I had a lovely day with a fellow blogger, Sofia Tay, and we shot each other's outfits. This look is almost completely thrifted, except for the shoes. These pants have been my most significant second hand purchase recently, and I'm over the moon with them. Their elastic waistline, and soft flowy material makes them insanely comfortable, but the front tie and smart checkered pattern keeps them looking polished. There are unfortunately zero tags in these pants, which makes me think that they were made by hand. This beautiful cashmere-resembling top is thrifted as well, and the tag is unrecognizable to me. Paired with simple silver chains, and my beautiful nude mules that I purchased in Bangkok several years ago by Akata Shoes. All together it was a lovely day, and we gathered some lovely shots! Enjoy!

Buckle Up

        This OOTD is from a few weeks ago, back when I was able to leave the house without a mandatory 4 layers along with my wool coat or parka. However, for all readers that live in milder climates, or who don't experience freezing winters, you can definitely wear this look right now in November.

Got 99 Layers

        It snowed today, and although that made many Vancourites irrationally angry this morning I honestly am excited. To me, any sign that the semester is coming to a close and Christmas is on its way is a good thing. 

        However, although I may love snow and love the holiday season, I hate the cold with every fibre of my being. I am perpetually cold- even during the hot and sweaty summer months, if I just stand in a shadow for too long, I complain that I'm cold. So winter time forces me to experiment with style and layering, in an "adapt of day" sort of way. I sound like I'm exaggerating but I am sad to say I'm not. Layering a collared shirt under a jumper or sweatshirt is a classic, and here I'm testing out turtle necks which I love the look of. I feel like I've been wearing black ankle boots too often recently so I decided to sport my classic Vans, and of course add a statement belt and a beanie.

        Also apologies for using the same wall over and over again. It's a damn good wall and it has been surprisingly difficult to find well lit walls with a basic background. Kind of hoping that maybe in the future I'll be able to get a studio? Or a background with some lights so I can shoot indoors. That definitely would be exciting.

Hand-Me-Downs

        With midterms in full force, when I go to class, comfort is my top priority. This look is 100% inspired by one of my favourite fashion Instagramers, Nemah Hasan aka @nemahsis. I'm obsessed with her abilities to layer layers and layers of denim, turtle necks, and sweatshirts with wicked heeled boots. Her look is unique and she is definitely a source of inspiration for me. 

         As well, this jacket holds a special place in my heart. Just like several other shirts that I have featured on my blog, this jacket is a hand-me-down from my dad. It's absolutely huge and overwhelms my frame and I absolutely love it. I styled it with a sleek, black ensemble to let it take centre stage. These shiny black boots, made by Pertti Palmroth, are a total blessing this autumn season. Vancouver's rainy season is in full force and these boots are keeping my feet warm and dry, not to mention they're a fashion statement. When I found these boots in a Value Village for $15, I just googled the brand to see what the brand was like because they seemed like very well-made shoes, and they're made in Finland. Lord and behold, I found a pair of almost identical pair of boots on their website, and they are worth 189€ (which is $314.81 Canadian). So no wonder they're such good quality! Reasons why I love thrifting. As for the toque, I got it at Urban Outfitters while I was getting another toque for one of my DIY Halloween costumes... a post is soon to come 　.
