Valentine's Day Lookbook

It's February 13th. Tomorrow is the day. Maybe you've made reservations three weeks ago for tomorrow evening with your boo, or perhaps you just got an out-of-the-blue text from a cutie asking if you have any plans for tomorrow, or maybe you're just thinking screw it and want to spend the day with some friends. No matter what, you'll probably want a cute outfit for Valentine's Day, and with that comes inevitable pressure. So, I decided to give you some inspiration with a V-Day lookbook! I've thought of four hypothetical scenarios you may be in tomorrow along with four outfits to match. I hope you enjoy!

Casual First
("not a date") Date

Okay so you met this person in class, but things were never serious. Or you met them the old fashioned way, by swiping right on Tinder. Either way, you're not "dating" dating, but you're still going on some kind of a "date" (but there's no labels, of course). You don't want to look like you're trying too hard but, you know, still that you're trying. So what do you wear? Go back to basics. Grab a pair of high waisted skinny jeans you know make your butt look good. Throw on a crop top, and if it's as cold as it is here in Vancouver, make it a long sleeved one and layer a leather jacket over top. Don't fuss too much with jewelry, and keep your shoes sweet and simple. Stay comfortable and cute, and keep all the focus on the great time you two are having!

Classy Night Out

Reservations for 7? Please and thank you. You're taking Valentine's Day seriously and book a lavish evening with your loved one. Perhaps it's for dinner at a restaurant you normally wouldn't go to, or tickets to see a show. You want to, as the great Patricia Bright calls it, "Look Expensive, Darling". How do you do this without worrying about being uncomfortable after dinner when you have a bit too much wine and chocolate soufflé in your stomach? Try high waisted a-line dress. It's a timeless silhouette that flatters all body types and looks effortlessly elegant while still remaining comfortable and breathable. Pair with some thick tights (because it's damn cold), a cute pair of black heels to elongate your legs, and throw on some sparkly jewelry. You can't go wrong!

Chill Day with Bae

So you and your boo have been going out for a while now, and the two of you don't go too hard with Valentine's Day- but you still like to spend some time together and maybe get some bubble tea (my personal favourite). You don't feel the need to go heavy on the makeup or tight with the clothing, but you still want to look and feel cute. So! Grab a "festive" pink top (and soft velvet no less) and your favourite comfy high waisted jeans. I liked pairing this look with a colourful embroidered denim jacket to jazz it up and threw on my much adored, and worn, white Converse sneakers. And lastly, go ahead and be a little cheeky and have some fun (because how hilarious is this necklace?)

Valentine’s Day Who?

Valentine's Day? We don't know her. Maybe you got dumped, or you're single by choice and damn happy about it. Whatever the reason may be, you're not spending this day with anyone romantically- but that doesn't mean you can't have a good time with friends! Send a message to the group chat and have some quality time away from this sappy, commercialized, PDA-filled day with your girls. Personally, I thought this shirt and jacket went perfectly with this kind of  attitude. "Everything Sucks" and "Support Your Local Girl Gang" are strongly held emotions February 14th. Be comfy with some comfy high waisted athletic wear joggers. Paired with some classic Vans and a badass choker and you're good to go.

Jacket: Sadie & Sage
