THURSDAY

It's almost there, the week is almost done. I don't know about you but the first Thursday of the semester is approximately when I stop giving a shit and transition into my true form, which is a procrastinating slob that still wants it to look look like I'm trying but in actuality you woke up minutes before your lecture. This is why during the semester I'm excessively casual with my style. Is it trendy streetwear, or pure laziness? The world will never know.

Here's my Thursday Look:

I got these Uniqlo jeans the same day I got yesterday's fuzzy sweater, and I'm damn glad I did. I've grown out of most of my other loose jeans, so they are no longer comfortable enough for me (yes I am a 22 year old woman who is still growing out of clothes). I decided to use this chain that's been sitting around in my jewelry collection as a jean belt and I'm glad I did. Threw on my trusted skull t-shirt with a knot and called it a day.

WEDNESDAY

It's day three, and you're starting to get into the groove of things. Comfort is key, but now you might feel a bit more adventurous. Show some legs, a cute skirt, (optional: maybe put your hair up into double buns?) and a compliment-worthy teddy bear sweater really adds to the cute factor.

Here is my Wednesday Look:

My mom and I went shopping at Uniqlo recently and I fell in love. Everything is so simple, minimalist, and priced fairly. I got this IRRESISTIBLY soft sweater there, and I'm probably going to go back and get some more. I thought playing with textures would be fun, so I paired it with this thrifted pink velvet t-shirt. Throw on a cute buttoned skirt (mine is from F21), any sneakers, and you're set. And today is the first day I've shown my backpack, which is my absolute necessity during the school year. It's by Matt & Nat, their Brave Backpack. It fits my Macbook Air perfectly, and I take it everywhere.

TUESDAY

And here we are! Day two! You've ripped the bandaid off, now it's time to get comfortable and start meeting new people.

Here is my Tuesday Look:

Today you want something that is put together, and won't kill your feet when you book it to your second class. You want to feel put together, but still casual and approachable.

What I love about this white polo with the black stripes is how simple it is to style and throw on. You don't even have to think about it. But to make it more eye-catching, you gotta add the details. The simplicity of the shirt can be taken advantage of by adding checkered slip-on Vans along with a punctured belt and distressed Mom Jeans. Subtle H&M hoop earrings can we swapped out for something more daring, like my favourite Brandy Melville star hoop earrings, or a geometric style.

MONDAY

As shitty as it is, September has finally come around and that means all students are back to school. Whether it's university, college, or high school, there are always anxieties going back to class. Whether it's "Will I know anyone in my lectures?" or "Attendance will count for the how much of the final grade!?" to "How the hell am I gonna figure out where all my classes are?", believe it or not, we're all thinking the same things.

I know a huge source of anxiety for me is first impressions. I want to be looking cute for tutorials, but also comfortable. I want to feel confident enough to start conversations, and not blend into the crowd (getting your profs and TA's to notice you in the beginning of the semester is a huge advantage).

So, I thought I would make a "2018 First Week of School Look Book" and post Monday to Friday, sharing an outfit for each day of the week. These looks all serve a purpose, and all have their benefits. If there's anything with the coming looks that don't work with you school's dress code or not in your comfort level, feel free to tweak them as you see fit!

Here is my Monday Look:

I wanted to style something that was not only bold and eye-catching, but also super comfortable so you weren't nervously tugging and pulling of seams and necklines throughout the first day.

This button-up is an old thrifted find of mine that by a vintage brand called Koret City Blues. I decided to pair it simply with a pair of black shorts underneath (because no one is trying to flash everyone on the first day of classes), with my new Little Burgundy Women's Clara Boot in Black. Modest H&M silver hoop earrings for a little bit of accessorization, and of course those overpriced textbooks to complete the look.

Space Jam

This white polo shirt with the black lined collar and sleeves has proven to be one of my best and most versatile thrifted finds recently. Pairing it with distressed high waisted shorts, a tattoo choker, checkered vans, and double buns might clash for some folks but I personally like the mixture of aesthetics. This look might remind you of, quote, "2010 Tumblr", but I don't mind. Sometimes it's fun to play with styles you liked when you were younger, and mixing them up to be better suited for current you. I feel cute and comfortable in this look- and a little like Sailor Moon.
